Shelter Building

Thorpe Woodlands offers the perfect environment for outdoor play and adventure. 

Younger groups really enjoy building a shelter out of natural materials found in the forest. 

Each group will discuss what makes a good shelter - (protection from the elements, warm, strong enough to withstand a bear attack etc.) before setting off to find a good location for their own. Shelter building leads to a greater understanding of key elements of teamwork such as listening skills, accepting you might be wrong, taking different roles, good communication, mutual respect and sharing the same aim.
